Race day...

I'm trying not to work myself up too much... but it is a 5k after all.  It's short and sweet and over before you know it.  You can suck up a huge amount of pain for 23 minutes... right?  As long as I don't max out I'll be okay.  That my main worry.

We'll see.  I know I'm going to run a PB because I've only run one other 5k and I ran that one with H1N1 in a time of 25 min.

After that we'll be off to Smiths Falls to pick up race kits for tomorrow's triathlon.

Wish me luck.............................

ahhhh...

I love Fridays!

Yesterday was basically a taper day.  I don't need to taper that much for a 5k race...but since I have races two days in a row, I figured it wouldn't hurt.  The french fries were not a necessity either but for some reason I felt entitled.

I took the kids to the beach at Meech Lake and I swam about 200m.  You know what?  I really hate swimming among fish.  It's not my idea of a good time.  The aquatic plant life that reaches the surface of the water in some places gives me the heebie jeebies too.

Today I'm cycling to work, but I'm not running. Later I'm heading over to get my race kit.

BTW - today is weigh in day.

Survived the rainy day...

I survived the rainy day.

I cycled to and from work for a total of 10k (it's good 'cuz it's a quick ride to work and bad 'cuz it's not much of a workout).

I ran 9k on my lunch hour... and just got rained on a little bit.  I actually found a really good route: out 4.5k to a water fountain and 4.5k back.  There are some good hills along the way too.

Gotta run.  I'm working 7:30 - 3:30 today so I can be home for the kids' bus.

Rainy day...

I did nothing yesterday.  I drove to work. I went out for lunch and ate crap food plus wine and then I spent the evening running around.  I could have gone for a run at the end of the day but... I didn't feel like it.  So... I have no one to blame but myself. As usual...

I'm not sure why I'm not committed?  I say I want to run a 3:45 marathon and then I don't train the way I should.

Today is a rainy day.  I almost bailed on going to work at all.  I pressed snooze on my alarm clock and contemplated calling in sick.  I really don't like my job.  It's a total bummer.  But on the brighter side... I only have a few days before I'm on leave for 5 weeks.  The kids will be out of school and it's going to be party time.  I'm super stoked.  I can put up with a few more days of my crap job.  When my extended leave is over, I'll take a transfer to a new team.  Maybe even go back to my old job... which I used to think was horrible... but now I miss it! That's funny to me now.  I think I was a bit spoiled... I miss my old director.

I have a race on both Saturday and Sunday; a 5k followed by a super sprint triathlon.  I kind of need to taper this week anyway... but there is still training for Toronto Marathon that needs to be done.  I think I'm good for a noon hour run in the rain.

Monday... not manic...

I didn't run yesterday.  I cycled though.  I had a 9:30 meeting downtown so I cycled there, changed into work attire, then I cycled back to my office and then home at the end of the day for a total of 20km.  It's not really that much... but it's better than nothing.  I didn't run because I didn't get back to my office until well after noon so I didn't have enough time.

Today I have to take Jake to an appointment from 9-10 and then I have a lunch date in Hull; a really good excuse to eat loads of high cal food!  After work I have to pick my dad up from CP so I'll be able to go for a run later at night.  I haven't run outside at night in a long time but I'm going to bring my BB and I'll stay on bright busy streets.  Fingers crossed.  I'm going to make up my weekend long run of 16k which I'm totally good for.

I've been sort of here and there on my marathon training only because I've been confident about my base, and the first few weeks were base building.  I'm going to be more strict with myself over the next several weeks though.  I'm going to do my intervals and my long runs in addition to swimming, cycling and strength training.

By the end of this summer I'm going to be totally ripped.  Watch and see.

Weekend... slacker!

I didn't do a long run this weekend for the second weekend in a row.  If I don't BQ this is why.  I do this every time!

I swam 200m at OAC + cycled 30km + ran 5k.

I have no idea what my times were.  I just wanted to see if I could do it.  So we're signing up for the Smiths Falls Super Sprint triathlon next week.

I am going to run Emilies 5k on the weekend and after that I'll be focusing on training the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Seriously.

Maybe I'll even do a "long" run later tonight.  That would make me feel a lot better!
