Yesterday was an 'easy' day. I ran 10k at a relaxed pace. I really only backed off my threshold a bit though. Mainly because I was pressed for time. I averaged 5:11 overall... so that's about 51:00 and change. It was a challenging run with plenty of hills. In fact... I really thought it should have felt easier than that!!
Today is a "brick" workout. We're going to swim 200m + cycle 30k + run 5k. It should be a challenge... but it's more of an experiment. If it goes well we'll register for the Smiths Falls Super Sprint Triathlon on June 20th. Yes that's the very next day after my 5k race but that's okay... I'm not looking to win this triathlon. I'm looking to PB on the 5k.
Next up...

Super speedy... well for me anyway
1000m = 4:03
1000m = 4:22
1000m = 4:12
1000m = 4:28
The route I ran on was 1k out on a minor decline. So the 1k back is a minor incline... and you can see this reflected in my splits.
In addition to running intervals on my lunch hour, I cycled to and from work for a total of 10k and then I swam laps (about 200m) at the OAC while the kids played in the pool.
Then we took the kids to Wendy's and ate greasy food followed by chocolate!!!! So much for those last ten pounds!!!
Today is Friday; weigh in day.
I came in at 130... no progress!

Still stoked...
I've been swimming on a weekly basis on my lunch hour with a colleague who's been showing me the ropes. She's a really good swimmer. I, on the other hand splash, kick and choke my way through my workouts - ack!
Yesterday though, was a break through workout. We swam a ladder... 100m - 200m - 400m followed by 300m.
I spent the first 400m or so thinking I would never even be able to finish the planned workout... and then you know... I entered the "zone" and actually ended up finishing the whole thing!! Not only that but I finished stronger than I had started.
I wonder how many calories a 1000m swim would burn off?

'Cause sometimes you feel tired...
" 'Cause sometimes you feel tired,
feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.
But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength
and just pull that $hit out of you and get that motivation to not give up
and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse."
- Eminem
That's a good running tune.
